Thinking of buying a second hand coop? I am all for recycling but during an avian influenza risk period please think twice and do the following BEFORE you use it....
Dry clean it first - remove all faeces and other material using a scraper and even sand paper.
Scrub all surfaces with a washing up liquid.
Rinse and repeat washing until all surfaces are visually clean.
Dry all surfaces.
Disinfect all surfaces with a DEFRA approved disinfectant that has been made up to the CORRECT concentration.
Dry all surfaces.
Heavily varnish wooden surfaces.
Sit back and relax!
